Councillor Sonia Bennetto encourages not-for-profit groups to apply for financial or in-kind support, fostering the development and delivery of new and diverse events, projects, or services in the Region.

“Council's Community Grants Programme constitutes a fundamental funding source for numerous community organisations, offering essential seed funding to propel applicants towards self-sufficiency and aiding in the procurement of crucial equipment and facilities for the wider community's benefit.”

“Community Grants play a vital role in minimising expenses related to organising community events or programs, contributing to the efficient planning and execution of beneficial initiatives.” said Cr Bennetto.

The last round of recipients included RAAF Association Queensland Division Townsville Branch, Gold City Bowls Inc, Charters Towers Rugby League Limited, Charters Towers Performing Arts Festival Association Inc, Charters Towers Tennis Club Inc, Our Town Association Inc, Gudjalbara Indigenous Corporation, CT 4x4 Club Inc, Charters Towers Athletic Club Inc, Charters Towers Girl Guides and Selectability Limited.
