Composting

Charters Towers Regional Council collects 18.6% of garden organics and 18.5% of food organics via our wheelie bin collection service.  This 37.1% of organic matter represents a great opportunity to further reduce our environmental footprint through composting, worm tubes or other forms of vermiculture.

Composting reduces the amount of organic waste going into landfill.  By composting your food scraps and green waste, you are converting it into a useful by product that’s ideal for a garden fertiliser. It's a win-win!

There are a range of steps to successful DIY composting.  Learn how with our easy 7-step guide in our DIY Composting Factsheet available below.
