At Charters Towers Regional Council, we are committed to creating opportunities for local people to learn, grow and build rewarding careers. Our traineeship and apprenticeship programs provide valuable hands-on experience, nationally recognised qualifications and the chance to contribute to the community. By investing in skills development, Council helps build a strong local workforce and supports the region’s future growth.

Traineeships

Traineeships are completed over a one to three year period depending on the area of study. They combine hands-on learning with formal training and assessment from a Registered Training Organisation. Traineeships are a great way to be paid for work while earning a qualification.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are typically completed over a four year period depending on the area of study. They combine hands-on trade experience with formal training blocks delivered by a Registered Training Organisation. Apprenticeships are a great way to earn an income while establishing a long-term career.

Work Experience

School-based work experience helps secondary students explore the world of work and identify potential career pathways. Placements are designed to provide exposure and hands-on experience in areas of interest over short periods, helping students better understand their options and ambitions for the future.
