Councillor Giving Tree

Help brighten someone's Christmas

This festive season, we're inviting the community to come together and support those who could use a helping hand.

The Councillor Giving Tree is a simple way to help those who are doing it tough.  By donating items like food, clothes, toys, or other essentials, as well as sharing messages of support and hope, we can make life a little easier for local families and individuals in need.

Think of the tree as a symbol of kindness, with every donation like a leaf or ornament that helps it grow.  The more we give, the more support we can offer.

It’s easy to take part:

  • Choose something from our donation suggestions, either something you already have in near-new condition, or something you’d like to buy.
  • Drop it off at one of our collection points (Admin Centre, Excelsior Library, or Visitor Information Centre)
  • If you’d like, you can also write a kind, uplifting message on a gift card and hang it on the Giving Tree to brighten someone’s day.

Wrapping your Giving Tree donation is completely optional, but if you choose to wrap it, please include a note or label describing what’s inside so we can make sure it reaches the right recipient without unwrapping.

Once donations close, Councillors will carefully review all donations and messages, and work with local organisations to decide the best way to distribute the items, making sure they go where they’re needed most.
