Council offers a range of work experience options for secondary school students across the region. Popular areas of work experience include:

  • Construction

  • Information Technology
  • Visitor Information Centre
  • Library

To express an interest in undertaking work experience with Council, please contact the Work Experience/Vocational Education Coordinator at your high school, or a member of Council's People and Performance team on 07 4761 5375.


There are a range of volunteering opportunities with Council including our Visitor Information Centre (VIC) and our Library. To apply for any of our volunteering programs please complete the Volunteer Application Form and return to Council via one of the following methods:

Apprenticeships and Traineeships

A traineeship or apprenticeship allows you to gain on the job experience whilst completing studies. Council advertises these opportunities as they become available.

Council offers a range of apprenticeships and traineeships in areas such as:

  • Business administration

Traineeship and apprenticeship initiatives are offered by Council to address the recruitment and growth needs of the community by attracting applicants with a commitment to study within a range of fields at Council.
