Charters Towers Regional Council resolved to reappoint its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Aaron Johansson for another three years at the June General Meeting of Council.

Mr Johansson has been the Chief Executive Officer since October 2017.

During that time, he has been a driving force behind several projects and initiatives. Of note has been a sustained focus on evolving the organisation to ensure it operates as a contemporary local government by transforming its service delivery models.

Mr Johansson has also led the organisation through significant periods of change and uncertainty with the March local government elections and COVID-19 recent examples.

Mayor Frank Beveridge praised Mr Johansson. “In the short time since being elected Mayor, it is clear Aaron is a committed and highly capable CEO. We are pleased he has chosen to renew his contract with Council.”

Mr Johansson said he, along with his wife and two children, had settled in the town.

“I would like to thank the Mayor and Councillors for their continued faith in me. I look forward to

working with Council and all of our stakeholders into the future.”
