Councillor Column - Portfolio Update - Cr Bernie Robertson

Back

"Thank you to everyone who re-elected me as Councillor this term.

I’m pleased to once again be overseeing components of the Infrastructure and Sustainability Portfolio, which includes Rural Management, Saleyards, and Pest and Animal Management – areas I’ve always been passionate about.

Council continues to be active in these areas, with our regular Wild Dog Baiting Campaign almost complete this month, recent minor upgrades to the Dalrymple Saleyards Agents Building and upcoming annual animal registration and desexing initiatives.

In the future, we look forward to further progress in these areas, in particular development of a Saleyards Master Plan that is attractive for potential investors and growth for the region.

We also continue to proactively engage with our rural community via the Council-led Rural Industry Advisory Committee to ensure matters of importance are raised and addressed.

In addition to the above, I am now portfolio Councillor for ‘Roads’ and subsequently a representative on Council’s Road Safety Advisory Committee.

To that end, Council continues its flood damage works with a due date of June 2021.

I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone to support The Australian Road Safety Foundation’s ‘Fatality Free Friday,’ Friday, 29 May 2020. Take the online pledge to Choose Road Safety by visiting www.arsf.com.au."
