Charters Towers Regional Council is pleased to announce that Round One of the Community Grants Programme for 2025/2026 is now open.

Applications are invited from local not-for-profit organisations seeking support for activities, programs, or services taking place between 1 July 2025 and 31 December 2025.

Designed to support community-driven projects and initiatives, the Programme offers monetary and in-kind assistance of up to $5,000 per application, helping groups to deliver new or expanded services and events that benefit the Charters Towers Region.

Mayor Schmidt encouraged local groups to apply, highlighting the Programme's important role in supporting the sustainability and growth of community initiatives.

“Council’s Community Grants Programme plays a vital part in helping organisations become self-sufficient.

“Whether it's seed funding for a new event or support to upgrade essential facilities, these grants help bring community ideas to life,” Mayor Schmidt said.

The Community Grants Programme supports a broad range of initiatives, including those related to recreation, sport, and other community-focused activities.

Applications that clearly demonstrate a positive and measurable impact for the Region will be prioritised.

“It’s great to see how past recipients have used this funding to strengthen their groups and host events that connect and energise our community.

“We look forward to seeing what new ideas and collaborations emerge in this round,” Mayor Schmidt added.

Past successful applicants include a diverse range of local organisations, such as Gold City Raceway, Towers Players, Charters Towers Social Softball, and Charters Towers and Dalrymple Fish Stocking Group.

Applications close on Friday, 30 May 2025.
