Why aren’t flying-foxes being relocated from Lissner Park right now?

There are currently significant flowering events in melaleucas, eucalypts and bloodwoods across the region. With recent rain, pollination activity is at its peak, making this area highly attractive to flying-foxes.

Dispersal attempts at present would be less effective due to:
• Unfavourable environmental conditions
• Ongoing food availability
• Flying-foxes returning shortly after disturbance

Council’s current approach focuses on timing, welfare, effectiveness and community harmony, all within legal requirements.

Council continues to monitor the situation closely and will act when conditions allow for safe, effective and compliant management.
