Charters Towers residents and the business community are advised that Council remain on a Level 1 Water Restriction.

Level 1 Water Restrictions:
- Micro spray and drip systems fitted with timers can be used from 7pm to 8am on the odds and evens system.
- Sprinklers can be used from 6am to 8am and 7pm to 9pm on the odds and evens system.
- Hand-held hoses, watering cans, and buckets can be used at any time.
- Paved areas can only be cleaned with high-pressure water cleaners.

Council is continuing essential works to address the issues with the main weir intake and restore full water supply capacity.

Here's what’s happening next:
- Restraint lines have been installed on the weir bridge to allow safe access for works.
- Review of the Weir Intake Chamber inspection and flushing procedure is in progress.
- Repairs to internal weir tower pipework are in progress.
- The Weir Intake Chamber inspection and flushing is tentatively scheduled to be carried out by internal crews in the coming weeks.

The main intake at the weir remains offline due to suspected damage or blockage, and an alternate intake suction is supplying water at reduced capacity. These upcoming works are critical steps in restoring full intake operations.

Please note that all works are subject to weather, river levels, and resource availability.

Council thanks the community for their ongoing patience and cooperation as we work to restore the system to full capacity.
