Public Consultation on Proposed Amended Local Laws

At the General Meeting of Council, held on 17 September 2025, Charters Towers Regional Council resolved to propose to amend the following Local Laws and Subordinate Local Laws:

• Local Law No. 1 (Administration) 2011(PDF, 620KB) and the associated Subordinate Local Law No. 1 (Administration) 2021;
• Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2011(PDF, 581KB) and the associated Subordinate Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2011(PDF, 1MB);
• Local Law No. 3 (Community and Environmental Management) 2011(PDF, 518KB) and the associated Subordinate Local Law No. 3 (Community and Environmental Management) 2011(PDF, 412KB);
• Local Law No. 4 (Local Government Controlled Areas, Facilities and Roads) 2011(PDF, 462KB) and the Subordinate Local Law No. 4 (Local Government Controlled Areas, Facilities and Roads) 2011(PDF, 481KB); and
• Local Law No. 8 (Waste Management) 2018(PDF, 498KB)

Council invites the public to provide written submissions on the Proposed Amended Local Laws for the period commencing on Monday, 22 September 2025 and ending on Monday, 20 October 2025.

Submissions can be made in support of, or objecting to, the proposed changes. Submission must be made in writing and must state:

• The grounds of the submission; and
• The facts and circumstances relied on in support of the grounds.

Submissions can be delivered to Council.

3. by hand-delivery to the Council Administration Centre located at 12 Mosman Street, Charters Towers.
