Council would like to provide the community with an update on Flying-Fox dispersal activities planned for this weekend.

Over the past few weeks, there has been a strong and sustained effort in dispersing Flying-Foxes. In recent days, however, the Flying-Fox have shown more stubborn behaviour, particularly around Lissner Park and the CBD.

To allow the community a small break, reduced dispersal activities will be occurring over the next four mornings.
  • From tomorrow (Friday, 5 September) morning through to Monday (8 September) morning, no pyrotechnics will be used.
  • Instead, the team will utilise quieter methods such as beacon lights and pool noodles, which make little to no noise.
We acknowledge this may mean some Flying-Foxes will return to Lissner Park in the short term.

We appreciate everyone’s ongoing patience and understanding as we continue to manage this challenging situation.
