New lessee commences operations at the KRMP

A new chapter has begun at the Kennedy Regiment Memorial Pool (KRMP), with Towers Swim n Splash officially commencing as managers of the facility today, 1 September 2026.
Following a tender process for the operational management of the facility, Council endorsed the appointment of the new lessee and looks forward to working closely with them to continue delivering quality aquatic and recreation services for the community.
Mayor Liz Schmidt said Council was pleased to welcome Towers Swim n Splash as the new managers of the facility.
"The Kennedy Regiment Memorial Pool is an important community asset that provides opportunities for recreation, fitness, health and water safety for residents of all ages.
"We look forward to seeing their vision for the facility come to life while continuing to provide a positive experience for patrons.
"On behalf of Council and the community, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Tracy and the ATM Aquatics team for their hard work, professionalism and commitment to promoting water safety and encouraging participation in aquatic activities during their tenure," Mayor Schmidt continued.
The transition follows the conclusion of ATM Aquatics' management of the facility.
Becky Hartig, Director of Towers Swim n Splash, said they were excited to begin operations at the KRMP and become part of the facility's ongoing success.
"I'm incredibly excited to be taking on the Charters Towers Swimming Pool and to build on the great work that has been established here.
“I'm looking forward to bringing in some new ideas while continuing to make it a place the community loves,” Ms Hartig continued.
Outgoing manager Tracy Maff said it has been a privilege to manage the Kennedy Regiment Memorial Pool over the past three years.
“I sincerely thank my family, Council, staff, patrons and swim families for their support, trust and commitment, all of which made this journey so rewarding.
“I wish Becky from Towers Swim n Splash all the very best and am confident the pool is in great hands for the future,” Mrs Maff added.
Council is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for patrons, with current operations continuing as normal and are confident the facility will continue to be a valued community asset for years to come.
Council appreciates the support of the community during the transition period and looks forward to working with the new lessee to build on the strong foundation established at the facility.
