Charters Towers residents and the business community are advised that Council has now moved to a Level 3 Water Restriction.

Level 3 Water Restrictions:

  • Micro spray and drip systems must not be used at any time.
  • Sprinklers must not be used at any time.
  • Hand-held hoses, watering cans, and buckets can be used from 5am to 7am and 7pm to 9pm.
  • Watering lawn areas is not permitted.

The Charters Towers water supply is currently operating at reduced capacity due to changing raw water conditions and treatment issues. Current water storage demands cannot be fully met. Council is continuing essential works to restore full water supply capacity and would like to reassure residents that these restrictions are not the result of any problems with the raw water supply from the weir.

Council thanks the community for their patience and cooperation as we work to restore the system to full capacity.
