Charters Towers Regional Council is thrilled to welcome an allocation of $3,083,942 from the Community Benefits Fund for the Water for Growth initiative.

The announcement of this funding was made today by the Hon. David Janetzki MP, Treasurer of Queensland and Minister for Energy, during a visit to Charters Towers.

Minister Janetzki is travelling along the CopperString route this week, announcing support for key projects from Townsville to Mt Isa, including here in our community.

Mayor Liz Schmidt said the funding represents an important opportunity for the region.

“This is a significant investment in the future of our community, and we thank the State Government for its support”, continued Mayor Schmidt.

The Community Benefits Fund aims to support critical community infrastructure, including, without limitation, projects that facilitate housing supply and upgrades to essential utilities.

This investment will help Council progress the work needed to support a growing population and strengthen essential services.

These funds will allow Council to prioritise projects that enable housing growth, improve essential infrastructure and deliver long‑term benefits for residents across the region.

“We look forward to working with the Queensland State Government to ensure the best outcomes for our community”, added Mayor Schmidt.

Council will share further information about project priorities and timelines as planning continues.
