Charters Towers Regional Council today pays tribute to former Mayor and Councillor, Frank Beveridge, acknowledging his decades of dedicated service and the lasting impact of his leadership on the region.

Frank served the Charters Towers region with distinction and passion, first as a Councillor and later as Mayor, guiding the region through periods of growth, challenge, and transformation.

His pragmatic approach to leadership and unwavering commitment for the people who call the region home earned him the respect of colleagues and residents alike.

Throughout his tenure, Mr Beveridge was a strong advocate for infrastructure development, regional collaboration, and support for local businesses.

He played a key role in strengthening partnerships across North Queensland, promoting sustainable development, preserving the unique heritage of the Charters Towers Region, and laying the groundwork for future prosperity.

His legacy is reflected in the many initiatives and improvements that continue to benefit the community today.

Frank’s family has also asked Council to share their heartfelt reflections, describing him as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, friend, and community member who was proud to serve Council for over 20 years and often spoke of the honour it was to represent and advocate for the region.

“Outside of public life, Frank was a devoted father of four, a local business owner, and an avid Enduro racer for over 30 years.

“He built the family home, travelled widely with loved ones, and together with his wife Sharon raised four children who adored him.  His life was intentional and full of love, with family and friends always close by.

“We are heartbroken to have to say goodbye, but our family would like to thank Council and the community for their support as we celebrate his life and contribution to Charters Towers”, said a family spokesperson.

Council extends sincere condolences to Frank’s wife, Sharon, family, friends, and all those who worked alongside him.
