Council Launches 2026 Traineeship Program

Charters Towers Regional Council has launched its 2026 Traineeship Program, offering the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working towards nationally recognised qualifications. 

Mayor Liz Schmidt is delighted that Council continue to invest in the next generation of local government professionals.

“Council is delighted to once again provide opportunities for people to kickstart their careers right here in Charters Towers.

“Our traineeship program gives participants valuable real-world experience while they complete their studies, setting them up for a rewarding future in local government and beyond”, said Mayor Schmidt.

Applications are now open for the following positions:

  • Customer Service and Records Trainee
  • Library Trainee
  • Procurement Administration Trainee
  • Visitor Services & Tourism Trainee

Council’s ongoing commitment to the program reflects its focus on community development and workforce sustainability.

This year, Council has been fortunate enough to secure funding allocations under the Skilling Queenslanders for Work.

“Council is proud to create local career pathways and we look forward to welcoming new 2026 trainees who will help strengthen our organisation and community”, said Mayor Schmidt.
