The focus of this position is to provide assistance to the workshop and fleet team in the repair, replacement and management of council’s Fleet.
As with all positions the incumbent must model and comply with the values and standards as set out in Council’s Corporate Plan and undertake the role of Council’s Trades Assistant - Workshop in accordance with corporate governance and current legislation.
Employment Status: Full Time, Limited Tenure (Up to 6 Months)
Award: Level C14 – C11 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream C) Award – State 2017
Salary Range: $2,162.90 - $2,408.90 gross per fortnight.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will have:
- General knowledge in on or more of the following areas:
- Automotive, small engine or heavy mechanical repair and maintenance
- Auto electrical repair and maintenance
- Boiler making or Fabrication
- Plant and Machinery operation
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- Ability to carry out tasks of a routine nature in accordance with established procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to safely and competently operate a variety of handheld tools, plant & equipment.
- Ability to work effectively under general supervision either individually or as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills, effective time management and the ability to determine work priorities within a team environment.
- Sound verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound computer skills with knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications.

- Completion of Year 10 secondary schooling or equivalent.
- Asbestos and Silica awareness training or ability to undertake training.
- Possession of White card (Construction Safety Card).
| Essential Licences |
- Possession of or ability to obtain a current Queensland ‘MR’ Class manual Drivers Licence.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a LF (Forklift) High Risk Work License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/POSITION ENVIRONMENT
- This position requires the incumbent to undertake field work exposed to inclement weather.
- The ability to carry out the physical requirements of the position – manual handling, physical labour.
- This position may be required to work weekends and/or overtime as directed.
- This position may be required to work and camp throughout the Council region.
- This position may be required to work on a rotational roster of early and late shifts in each fortnightly pay period.
