Help shape the future of Library services
Published on 15 September 2025
Charters Towers Regional Council is inviting the community to have their say on improving the Excelsior Library through a new public survey.
As libraries continue to evolve to meet the changing needs of communities, Council is seeking feedback from residents to help guide improvements to Library services and opening hours.
Whether you are a frequent visitor, an occasional user, or haven’t visited in years, your input is valuable.
Mayor Liz Schmidt emphasised the importance of community involvement in shaping the future of the Library.
“The Excelsior Library is more than just a place to borrow books. It is a hub for learning, creativity and community connections.
“We want to ensure our services and opening hours reflect the needs and preferences of our residents and the survey is a great opportunity for the community to share their ideas and help us plan for the future,” Mayor Schmidt said.
Council is particularly interested in understanding what services residents value most.
It could be quiet study spaces, children’s programs, digital resources, community events, or a new service the community might like to see introduced.
The short survey, which takes less than five minutes to complete, asks about current usage, preferred opening hours, satisfaction with existing services and suggestions for improvement.
All responses are anonymous.
“We’re asking the community to take five minutes and share what they love, what could be improved, and what they’d like to see in the future of the Library,” the Mayor added.
The survey is open until Monday, 13 October 2025 and is available both online and in hardcopy at Council’s Administration Centre and the Excelsior Library. Feedback collected will directly inform future planning and service delivery.
