ABOUT THE ROLE

The Tour Guide is required to contribute to the operational objectives of Council’s Tourism Program by providing tour guiding services and host the Ghosts of Dark Tourism presentation. Guiding services for other Council Tourism facilities and services may also be required at times.

Employment Status: Casual

Award: Tour Guide, Level 1 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award – State 2017

Salary Range: $39.65 per hour inclusive of 25% casual loading

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will have:

| Essential Knowledge, skills and abilities |
  • Previous tour guiding experience or frontline customer service delivery.
  • Knowledge and understand of tourism activities and features of the area.
  • Sound knowledge of the history of Charters Towers and of the contemporary Charters Towers region.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels.
  • Excellent verbal communication, public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in undertaking routine activities such as selling tickets, handling and collecting cash and using remote electronic financial equipment.
  • Demonstrated innovative and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a small team.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
| Essential Education/Qualifications |
  • Current Working with Children check (Blue Card).

  • Current First Aid and CPR accreditation.

| Essential Licences |
  • Possession and maintenance of a current Queensland ‘C’ Class Driver Licence.
