Towers Hill Walking Track
The Towers Hill Walking Track is a joint initiative of Council and the Queensland Government completed in June 2014. The Walking Track connects the Charters Towers City to the iconic Towers Hill through an 800 metre path, featuring a recycled plastic boardwalk with a covered area, seating, solar lighting, drinking fountains and native landscaping.
Council is committed to environmental and financial sustainability and the features on the track reflect this with recycled and low maintenance materials and climate appropriate vegetation used where possible. Social media users can "check-in" at the Towers Hill Walking Track using the "Towers Hill Walking Track" location created for Facebook and Instagram. Council is putting its green spaces on the map.

Weir Water Park Boat Ramp
If you turn left before entering the Burdekin Weir Park and travel approximately 1 kilometre, you will reach Dave Chapman Park. A recently constructed boat ramp provides easy access to enjoy a spot of fishing. Fish species include Sooty Grunter, Dew (Cat) Fish, Sleepy Code, Barramundi and Small Mouthed Grunter. It is also a well known location for birdwatching, with cormorants, pelicans, ducks and darters often spotted. Disabled facilities are available. Dogs on leash are allowed.
A 4 horsepower limit on all craft using the Weir is in place, as it is considered that the use of craft in excess of 4hp is incompatible with the interests of existing recreational anglers and canoeists. No jetskis are allowed.
