Acting Mayor Cr Sonia Bennetto said that Council is excited to host these special events for the community.

“Over the past 12 months we sought community input on how we should celebrate this special occasion. We've had some great ideas and our Working Group has been busy planning these events for the community.

“150 years is a significant milestone in our history, and we want to celebrate it with a great range of activities. We hope these activities will also attract visitors and bring former residents back to Charters Towers.

“Along with the Council hosted events, we have been working closely with community groups to plan even more activities. These events will be announced later as we continue to contact key stakeholders in the community and lock in their events too,” said Cr Bennetto.

Charters Towers Regional Council also endorsed the 150 Year Celebrations logo and an assortment of merchandise, including t-shirts, cups, bags and caps.
