Under general direction, this position contributes to the operational objectives of the financial and managerial accounting functions of Council's Finance Section by undertaking a range of accounting and financial activities directly or indirectly related to projects funded under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).The position is required to fulfill the financial tasks and reporting requirements associated with Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) funded disaster recovery works. 

Employment Status:  Full Time, Limited Tenure to 01 October 2027

Award:                        Level 5 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award – State 2017

Salary Range:            $96,863.00 to $ 99,972.00 gross per annum

**Council may consider flexible hours or remote/hybrid work arrangements for the successful applicant.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will have:

| Essential Knowledge, skills and abilities |

  • Sound understanding of the various components of a financial ledger and a financial environment based on accrual accounting.
  • Proficient in working within a fully integrated suite financial modules; experience with TechnologyOne is desirable.
  • Experience with extracting financial data from a database for advanced analysis and reporting using Microsoft Excel.
  • Well-developed administrative and organisational skills and the ability to determine work priorities and work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft products with intermediate to advanced skills in Excel.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills including the ability to liaise and negotiate with a wide range of people at all levels.
  • Demonstrated behaviour that supports a diverse equitable and safe workplace with a proven understanding of the principles of confidentiality.

| Essential Education/Qualifications |

  • Bachelor’s degree in business/commerce or related substantial financial experience.

| Essential Licences |

  • Possession and maintenance of a Queensland ‘C’ Class Driver Licence.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/POSITION ENVIRONMENT

This position is primarily an indoor role and requires sufficient physical ability to work in a shared office setting, which involves prolonged period of sitting and/or standing at a desk and operating a computer and telephone. This position is required to carry out light to moderate manual handling, bending, kneeling, twisting, squatting, lifting and carrying.
