Proposed Local Laws and Subordinate Local Laws
Council has proposed to make:-
- each local law identified in schedule 1, column 2; and
- each subordinate local law identified in schedule 1, column 3.
Possible anti-competitive provisions have been identified in the proposed local laws and subordinate local laws. Council has proposed to conduct a public interest test in relation to possible anti-competitive provisions identified in each proposed local law and subordinate local law in respect of which possible anti-competitive provisions have been identified.
The local law which authorises the making of each proposed subordinate local law is identified in schedule 1, column 4. The purpose and general effect of each proposed local law and subordinate local law is identified in schedule 1, column 5.
Written submissions by any person, in support of, or objecting to, a proposed local law and/or a proposed subordinate local law are invited for a 21 day period commencing on Friday 23 September 2011 and ending on Friday 14 October 2011. Submissions are to state the grounds of the submission and the facts and circumstances relied on in support of the grounds. Submissions can be forwarded to the Charters Towers Regional Council, PO Box 189, Charters Towers QLD 4820 or emailed to mail@charterstowers.qld.gov.au. All submissions must be received by Council no later than COB Friday 14 October 2011.
During the consultation period, Council will make available for inspection and purchase at City Hall, 70 Mosman Street, Charters Towers copies of:-
- each proposed local law; and
- each proposed subordinate local law; and
- if a proposed local law or subordinate local law contains a possible anti-competitive provision - a public interest test plan for the proposed local law or subordinate local law.

Proposed Gates and Grids Local Law
Council has proposed to make Charters Towers Regional Council Gates and Grids (Application of Continuing Local Law) Local Law 2011.
The purpose of the proposed local law is to apply Local Law No. 24 (Gates and Grids) of Charters Towers City Council to the whole of the local government area of Charters Towers Regional Council without changes and to repeal another continuing local law about the same matter.
The submission, consultation period and access requirements for the Gates and Grids local law are as per the above local laws. Therefore, submissions are required by COB Friday 14 October 2011.
