In an effort to entice visitors to the Region, Council has identified the development of packaging and cross-promotion with local businesses across a variety of themes as a priority for near future promotion.

Further tourism development will occur with Council's inclusion in the annual Regional Open Days program in April.  This event is promoted heavily in the Townsville area and Council intends on solely promoting a day-trip itinerary including local attractions and tourism products in the Charters Towers Region.

Charters Towers celebrates its grand history through wonderfully preserved heritage buildings, pubs, museums and streetscapes, with not one traffic light in sight!

Covering an area the size of Tasmania, the Charters Towers Region offers travellers a unique snapshot of rural life as it was in the gold rush days of the 1870's, with that friendly "country feeling" that so many visitors talk about.
