The Charters Towers region is in for a great evening of entertainment with nationally acclaimed singer, Judah Kelly playing live at Centenary Park on Commonwealth Day, Monday 12 March 2018, as part of the Queen’s Baton Relay, Party in the Park celebrations.
The Party will get started at around 3:00pm, with the Queen’s Baton arriving at Centenary Park at 5:30pm and Judah playing from 6pm.
Judah won Channel Nine’s sixth season of The Voice 2017 and has become one of the biggest chart-toppers for a Voice winner in recent years. Kelly's recent single ‘Count on Me’ debuted at No. 19 on the ARIA Charts and hit No. 1 on the iTunes Charts.
He has achieved notable accomplishments throughout the Queensland’s Country Music Festival Circuit. He was the Champion of Champions overall winner 2010 & 2013, 2014, Trans-Tasman entertainer of the year runner-up, and scholarship awarded graduate from the Australian Academy of Country Music.
Judah has opened for some of Australia's greats like The McClymonts and Diesel. The young singer-songwriter has described his music as "country with soul."
Mayor Liz Schmidt said she was very happy Council could secure Judah for the Party in the Park celebrations. “It’s fantastic we can have Judah coming back to perform at our celebrations. He was very well received last year at our Country Music Festival and we look forward to welcoming him again. It should be a really great show!”
The Party in the Park will include activities and entertainment for the whole family. It is a free community celebration to officially welcome the 2018 Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton to our region. For more information visit www.charterstowers.qld.gov.au/queens-baton-relay
