Insight to government procurement processes
Charters Towers Regional Council will be hosting a free workshop to help local businesses understand government tendering processes.
The workshop, ‘Tendering for Government Business’, is intended for regional businesses and is designed to improve industry understanding of procurement principles.
It will be presented by the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning and Council’s Procurement Coordinator.
Mayor Liz Schmidt said the workshop is designed to assist local businesses bid for government work. “It can be tricky for local businesses to understand government processes and how to respond to tenders.
“I want to encourage local businesses, suppliers and contractors to attend the workshop. It will help maximise their chances of competing for government work, including project opportunities,” said Mayor Schmidt.
The 4-hour workshop will include information on developing and submitting a conforming and effective tender. It will cover:
- the principles of government procurement policies and processes
- how to interpret and effectively respond to offer and tender documents
- where to look for current and upcoming tendering opportunities, and
- how to conduct market research to maximise the chance of success.
Tendering for Government Business workshop will be held on Wednesday 22 May from 8:30am to 12:30pm in the Gold and Beef rooms, at Council’s Administration Centre.
Registrations close 4.00pm on Friday, 17 May 2019. Due to the size of the venue, there are limited places available.
