Indoor pool to close for maintenance

The indoor heated pool at the Kennedy Regiment Memorial Pool complex will close on Friday, 27 March 2015 for four days as part of scheduled annual maintenance.

Council staff, in consultation with the pool lessee, will empty the heated pool on Friday.

It is anticipated that following maintenance work, the pool should be refilled by Monday, 30 March. Council anticipates that the new water will be sufficiently treated with the necessary chemicals to allow the pool to reopen to the public on Tuesday, 31 March 2015.

Council CEO Mark Crawley said the closure was an annual necessity to allow proper maintenance to occur.

“The swimming pool complex is an important facility for residents and Council is diligent in its commitment to ensure both swimming pools are adequately maintained,” Mr Crawley said.

“For a community the size of Charters Towers, I believe we are very fortunate to have a heated pool that meets the needs of a wide cross section of our community.”

Mr Crawley reminded pool patrons of the current summer opening hours.

These are:

  Monday - Friday   5:30am - 7:00pm
  Saturday   7:00am - 7:00pm
  Sunday and Public Holidays   9:00am - 6:00pm

The winter opening hours for the heated pool only will commence on Saturday, 11 April 2015, continuing until Monday 31 August 2015, with the hours being:

  Monday - Friday 6:00am - 9:00am and   3:00pm - 6:00pm
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays   12:00pm - 4:00pm
