Queensland Local Government Reform

On Friday 27 July, 2007 the Local Government Reform Commission announced major changes to the Queensland Local Government system and area boundaries.

As a result the Charters Towers City Council and Dalrymple Shire Council have now been amalgamated to form the Charters Towers Regional Council.

General information about the State Government's reform process and recommendations can be obtained from the State Government's Stronger Councils Website.

As part of the Stage Government's Reform Process the Charters Towers City Council and Dalrymple Shire Council were amalgamated to form the new Charters Towers Regional Council.
