Joining the Library
Membership is free of charge to all ratepayers and residents of the Charters Towers Regional Council area. Proof of identity and residency is required, with the following most ideal:
Ratepayers - Please present your current Drivers Licence and we will check with the Charters Towers Regional Council.
Residents - Please present your current Drivers Licence (with your local address) together with one of the following, which also shows your local address:-
- telephone account; or,
- electricity account; or,
- pension or health-care card; or,
- electoral enrolment card for Charters Towers/Kennedy area.
Junior Members - anyone under the age of 18.
- Junior members must be joined by a parent or guardian who will be responsible for any loss or damage the junior may incur.
- If independent and under 18 years of age, Adult conditions apply.
- Students attending boarding colleges must have their membership forms signed by a dorm mistress/master and stamped with the school stamp.
- Borrowing rights are the same as adults unless the parent/guardian requests some restrictions.
- A parent or guardian may join the children (by presenting the desired identification) without becoming a member themselves.
- There is no age limit.
Temporary Membership - if you are unable to supply the required identification, temporary membership is available for a refundable deposit (less 10% administration fee) of $33.00 single or $55.00 per family, with a borrowing limit of 2 items per temporary member.
Borrowing may begin on acceptance of membership.
