Work to Commence at Lissner Park

Council Staff will commence clean-up work starting tomorrow, 4 January at Lissner Park. Debris clearing and tree trimming will commence along the Church Street side of the park to allow staff back into the depot. Work will continue on Church Street on 8 January and progress into Anne Street to make these areas safe.

Since the park’s closure Council has conducted a risk assessment to determine the impact of the flying foxes and to minimise risk before work could commence.

“Before we can reopen Lissner Park, we want to make it as safe as we can for Residents and for Council Staff. We appreciate the community’s patience during this time.” said Acting Mayor, Cr Sonia Bennetto.

Council anticipates certain areas of the park to be open to the public in the coming weeks, however, the Deane Street side will remain closed for some time to allow contractors to trim tree branches and to evaluate the condition of trees.

More information will be made available once work has started.
