The Charters Towers community has received glowing feedback from passengers of the Seven Seas Voyager cruise ship. Some commented that through all their extensive worldly travels, it was rare to experience such an amazing and warm welcome that was given by the Towers community.
The cruise ship had ported in Townsville, with approximately 70 passengers travelling out to the Towers for a day trip. The tourists spent their time exploring our town and visiting local businesses.
Many locals volunteered their time to ensure a great experience was had by the travellers, including volunteers from the Visitor Information Centre and business owners. Several local businesses were on hand to have a chat and let the visitors experience a little outback culture, from local art to gold panning.
Mayor Liz Schmidt was thrilled with the feedback. “It was great to see our community get the praise they deserve. We have such a wonderful and welcoming community.
We always want to do our best and show the world what a great community and town we have. Tourism plays a huge role in our local economy. We want to ensure visitors will always remember their time here and share their experience with their friends and family. Hopefully, they’ll want to come for a visit too.”
Three more coaches are scheduled to arrive in the Towers on Thursday, 15 March 2018. Up to 120 passengers from the Seven Seas Voyager cruise ship will make the day trip in the afternoon, with stops at the Venus Battery, Stock Exchange and the CBD.
